I first met Dan Summerlin in 2013 while working on my undergrad degree. He graciously offered to answer my questions for a paper to write on being an effective evangelistic church. In the course of our discussion, Dan encouraged me to find a regular mentor to help me grow to the next stages of ministry. I was to evaluate where I am, find someone serving where I wanted to be, and ask them to mentor me to the next stage of ministry. Every year after I began pastoring, I would find a mentor and place into practice what I learned from them.
